Steven Stenzler Recognized by Sacramento Business Journal as a 40 Under 40 Honoree
Steven Stenzler, a senior policy advisor in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s State Government Relations Group, was recognized by the Sacramento Business Journal as one of its 2026 40 Under 40 honorees. Each year, the publication recognizes outstanding young professionals who are making significant contributions across the Sacramento region’s business and nonprofit communities.
A dedicated advocate and problem-solver, Stenzler leverages his public policy expertise to move the needle on the most relevant issues impacting Californians. His demonstrated experience drafting, negotiating and advancing complex and contentious proposals through the legislative process makes him a valuable asset to clients looking to engage with the legislature. With a professional focus on housing and land use policy, he drives the conversation on behalf of clients, focusing on streamlining, upzoning, reducing fees and expanding homeownership opportunities. Recent wins include the establishment of timelines for housing permits, the creation of a first-of-its kind ADU amnesty program and the passage of a law to help affordable housing developers reinvest millions into the California housing market.
In his profile for the publication, Stenzler details a career highlight: helping advance generational housing reform by leading coalition efforts to require major upzoning near transit.
“Working on this legislation was the highlight of my career not only because it will have a materially positive impact on the built environment around me, but because it gave me the opportunity to grow and develop my skills managing a diverse and high-performing coalition,” he said.
Stenzler was recognized at an awards reception on May 21.
