Adam E. Lyons

Commercial litigator with more than 20 trials and over two decades of experience in federal and state courts. Former CFPB assistant deputy enforcement director and DOJ assistant director. Extensive trial experience, including jury and appellate proceedings.

Adam Lyons leverages his experience in consumer protection enforcement to handle complex commercial litigation, encompassing matters related to fraud, contracts and employment. His experience leading high-stakes trials at the Department of Justice and investigations at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau allows him to understand the inner workings of government agencies bringing civil and criminal actions against companies.

During his time at the DOJ, Adam led affirmative litigation of frauds against American consumers and defense of contract matters brought against the United States, where he developed legal strategy and secured a landmark settlement after decades of litigation and led a first-of-its-kind national opioids dispensing case. He also supervised nationwide enforcement efforts under the Class Action Fairness Act, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and COVID-19 fraud cases, achieving impactful consumer protection outcomes. At CFPB, Adam supervised litigation and investigations targeting student loan fraud, illegal debt collection, deceptive mortgage practices and dark patterns—securing consumer restitution.

Adam is actively filing cases on behalf of clients to secure tariff refunds while the Supreme Court considers the scope of IEEPA-based tariffs. His work ensures clients maintain their rights to recover duties paid, positioning them for success pending the Court’s decision.

Adam is also a frequent lecturer and published author on law and procedure.
