An innovative and highly responsive attorney, Airina Rodrigues’s work includes matters involving trademarks and trade dress (including global trademark portfolio management), copyrights, trade secrets, right of publicity, false advertising and commercial contracts. She has represented several Fortune 500 companies and iconic brands. Her clients include professional sports teams, sports betting / online gaming providers, leading consumer and personal care brands, producers of outdoor recreation gear and apparel, fashion brands, media and entertainment companies, entertainment properties, cannabis brands, FinTech, InsurTech, and software, SaaS and technology providers.

A dealmaker in sponsorship, endorsement and IP licensing, Airina has guided clients in a range of complex deals, including negotiating marquis placement of brands with sports teams in the NFL, MLB and NBA, leading innovative intrastate cannabis brand licensing deals, negotiating technology, SaaS and joint collaboration and development agreements, and helping clients boost their brands via social media influencer and endorsement collaborations. 

When enforcement of her clients’ intellectual property assets becomes necessary, she is an experienced litigator who has successfully represented clients in U.S. federal district and appellate courts, as well as before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the USPTO. 

Airina serves as co-chair of diversity, equity and inclusion at the firm.

Prior to joining Brownstein, she practiced for over a decade at DLA Piper in New York.

Recent Experience

  • Represented leading California cannabis brands in connection with executing creative state and federal prosecution strategies; successfully enforced brands against third party infringers.

  • Represented Avon in a trademark and trade dress infringement action, obtaining favourable settlement for client and dismissal of all claims.

  • Obtained an appellate decision that restored the exclusive right of a leading cigar manufacturer to sell COHIBA cigars in the United States.

  • Represented major multinational companies as well as emerging growth companies in IP-licensing transactions, technology transactions and commercial negotiations and disputes.

  • Represented aircraft manufacturer in sponsorship and technology licensing transactions.

  • Represented the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in trademark infringement action involving the famous WORLD TRADE CENTER mark, secured dismissal of all 7 causes of action for breach of license agreements and trademark infringement.

  • Represented several cosmetics and consumer products companies in connection with global brand management matters, including license agreements for well-known brands.

  • Represented Atos and Worldline in copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, and related tort action concerning credit card processing software technology; secured dismissal of all 11 causes of action brought under federal, state and foreign law.

  • Represented Hugo Boss USA, Inc. and Hugo Boss Retail, Inc. in a trademark infringement action in Arizona District Court, obtaining complete victory for client on summary judgment, affirmed on appeal by the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

  • Represented global fashion brand in the sale of all of its IP assets.

  • Represented Cognizant in offensive trademark infringement action, obtaining a temporary restraining order, preliminary injunction, permanent injunction and favorable attorneys’ fee award.

  • Represented subsidiary of Dolce & Gabbana in trademark infringement action, obtaining favorable settlement.
